HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSY!

Happy Birthday Twin!
My twin and I in Rome last April

Today is my sister’s birthday, so I thought I would use this platform to embarrass her a bit! As most of you know, over the last eight months, my sister has been instrumental in my recovery. She has been a constant hand on my journey. From staying with me in the hospital to moving with me to Seattle for radiation treatment, her giving spirit and positive energy have been relentless. She has been so committed to my recovery that she has often endured sympathy pain, so hence, I refer to her as my twin. I am a lucky guy to be able to call her my sister—happiest of birthdays twinsie!

Treatment update
I had my latest round of chemo a little over two weeks ago. I had not provided an update because it took me a bit longer this time to bounce back. The effects of the chemo are cumulative over time, so the fatigue and nausea are getting stronger with each round of treatment. In this last visit to UCSF, I had a great oncology nurse who took good care of me. In fact, she set up all the bags so that I only had to be there five hours instead of six. I also got a room with a bed and TV this time, so I was able to watch Judge Judy and nap, so I was content. It truly is about the little things. This round also officially marked my halfway point, WOO-HOO! While there is still more to go, and perhaps the worst is yet to come, I am grateful to be at this point with no major setbacks.

My next treatment will be next month, just before my own birthday. I am hoping to continue on this path of recovery, and on that day, I will reflect on the many lessons I have learned over the last year, but more to come on that in a later blog update.
